2013 PCWOF Opening Ceremony
On June 2nd, 2013 the Portuguese community of Toronto was proud to open the rejuvenated Camões Square on College Street, as well as both the Portuguese Canadian Walk of Fame and the Gallery of the Portuguese Pioneers. Camões Square was created to provide an oasis for people of all backgrounds to learn about the history of the Portuguese community in Toronto. The square features a statue of Luís de Camões, Portuguese poet and author of The Lusiads (Os Lusiada – 1572) and is a micro version of the Camões Square in Lisbon, Portugal.
