
Tony Do Vale immigrated from Portugal to Canada in 1965. Shortly after arriving, he started a beautiful family with his two children, Diana and Anthony and is also the proud grandfather of two beautiful granddaughters, Leia and Amelia.
Tony Do Vale joined LIUNA Local 506 in September 1978 and worked as a labourer in the Greater Toronto Area. Do Vale worked diligently on several construction projects. His lifelong experience in the construction industry made him a perfect fit in the Labourers’ International Union of North America.
While he worked his way to becoming Labour Foreman for Avenue Structures in 1984 and went on to be appointed Shop Steward and Chief Steward for Ellis Don, overseeing the entire construction team. During his time working at the Skydome, Do Vale held the position of Recording-Secretary on the Joint Health & Safety Committees and was then hired by Carmen Principato to act as Business Representative with Local 506.
His love for the Union led him to the position of Vice President in 1990. In 2002, Do Vale and his elected team won a vigorous campaign, leading him to the position of Secretary-Treasurer and Assistant Business Manager of LIUNA Local 506.
Do Vale’s accomplishments do not end there. He sits and actively participates in the various Trust Funds. He is a Trustee of the Construction and Pre-Paid Legal Benefits. He also sits on the Board of Directors for LiUNA Local 506 Training Centre. He is a Delegate and Auditor to the Ontario Provincial District Council.
Do Vale has deep roots in the Portuguese community and the construction industry. Known for his commitment, he proudly continues to serve and represent the Portuguese Immigrants by acting as Secretary-Treasurer of the Peniche Community Centre.
Do Vale will carry on striving and ensure that our children continue to receive scholarships, hold fundraisers for charitable causes and provide activities and enriched programs for our children after school hours.
